What is it like to be a model?

I get this question a lot.  People are so curious about what it is like to be a model.  It really depends on where you model.  One aspect is for sure, it is an exciting business that is filled with creativity, fun, and variety.  Depending on where you live you can do more fashion, lifestyle or catalog.  Modeling is a full-time job in the sense that you are constantly doing castings, maintaining your image and booking jobs.  Plus, you can be invited to some really great events.  You need to be really organized to keep track of all of your bookings and castings.  In essence, you run your own business so you have to stay on top of your finances.  You can arrange your own work schedule and for the independent in spirit, it is the perfect situation.

So what is it like to be a model? It’s amazing!

What is the “it” factor?

“It” is exactly what the client is looking for.  If Target is looking for a brunette with blue eyes for its next campaign than the “it” factor is exactly what they need.  There maybe 400 brunettes that they consider.  However, one brunette will win them over.  Maybe it is because she appears to be a girl-next door in a non threatening way.  Maybe she has stunning features and they are trying to push a high-end look with their clothes.  As a model or actor you can’t be everything to everyone.  However, you can master what you want to be.  For instance, some actresses go out of their way to show versatility so others can see they range of their art.  Some models who are high fashion cross over into a more commercial look.  Whatever your niche will be, make sure you master it well.  This is where marketing yourself as a performer is essential.

Runway Models average height and weight

I know a lot of people want to know runway models average height and weight.
It is more important to be healthy then to be skinny. Depending on what type of model you want to be can determine the size you need to be.  If you are a young high fashion model, the industry desires small sizes and for the model to be taller than 5ft 8in.  If you are going to be a plus model, you also need to fit into the size of plus models.  I even knew someone who use to use padding so she could fit into plus size clothing so she could work.  The most important thing to remember is that you are hired to present an image and you have to leave all sensitivity at the door.  The client is wanting something specific and to make money in the business you will need to deliver whether that means loosing or gaining weight.  Also keep in mind that you work is not your life, so you need to ultimately be comfortable in your own skin.  Here is a link to a CD I created called 3 Days to Stardom.  If you are interested in getting into the business on the right foot, you will find the information in 3 Days to Stardom very helpful

abercrombie and fitch modeling standards

Remember a while back abercrombie and fitch modelsdidn’t really wear much clothing.  They appealed to the easy “sex sells” way of thinking.  As a model, you have to decide where to draw the line.  Your reputation and body are sacred and you need to decide what image you want to portray.  If you get picture done without clothing coverage then you will book jobs that require you to dress this way.  Pictures will stay around or life.  Just ask numerous celebrities who had compromising pictures of themselves pop up.  It can be embarrassing and difficult so you want to make sure that you only take pictures that make you feel comfortable and that you would want to show to anyone. Abercrombie and fitch modeling standards have gotten them into trouble.  That does not have to happen to you.

Fitness Model pictures jamie eason

As you know Fitness Model pictures of jamie eason are really popular on the internet.  She has a well toned sporty build that many people desire. If you ever thought about fitness modeling, here is an article for you:

There is no one way to become a successful fitness model. There is no single path or magic secret. There are however some key things a person can do to greatly improve their chances of “making it” in the fitness biz as a model, and perhaps using that success as a launching pad to greater things, such as movies, TV, etc

First, being a fitness model means you stay in shape all the year round. If you’re used to the bodybuilder’s practice of having a “cutting season” and a “bulking season” say goodbye to the bulking part. You have to stay lean all year round or you will miss photo opportunities. When the magazine editors call you, they want you NOW! If you’re not ready, you lose because someone else always is ready. You can’t say, “ok, I’ll do it, just let me go on a diet for 12 weeks first.”

Once you’re in great shape, create your own photo portfolio. Research physique photographers in your area and ask to see samples of their work. Also find out whether you get to keep the negatives. Some photographers give you the negatives and then you can make all the copies you want and use them for anything you want. Other photographers give you only prints and if you want more copies, you have to buy them. This is a common practice and I respect the reasons why the photographers do it, but I’d recommend finding someone who gives you the negatives. They’re out there. Find out the deal beforehand to avoid misunderstandings. Also get written permission to have the photos published and you’ll make sure the photo gets a credit in the magazines

If you’re not in shape now, I’d recommend you set a date for the shoot 8-12 weeks from now. Then pay the photographer in advance and tell them to keep the money if you don’t show up. Choose a photographer who specializes in fitness, bodybuilding and physique photography, they’ll be able to help you regarding what to wear, how to pose, and what backgrounds / locations to choose. However, don’t leave it all up to the photographer. (adapoted from Womenfitness.net)

Sudden Onset Adult Acne on Neck and Back

If you are anything like me, you have struggles with acne.   Maybe you have Sudden Onset Adult Acne on Neck and Back is not good for someone who want to model or be on TV.  CLICK HERE TO CLEAR UP ACNE!

Here are some helpful wayas to keep acne at bay:

  1. Treat acne as soon as it develops. The most effective way to avoid acne scarring is by preventing acne from developing into a more severe form. Don’t wait to see if acne will go away on its own. Begin treatment right away, and see your doctor if your acne is unresponsive to over-the-counter treatments.
  2. Avoid inflammation, if possible. Inflamed acne lesions are much more likely to cause scars than non-inflamed lesions. Avoid doing anything that may further irritate your skin. This may include aggressive scrubbing, harsh skin care products, etc.
  3. Don’t squeeze, pop, or pick at pimples. Squeezing a pimple can force debris deeper into the follicle, spread infection, and worsen a blemish. When you pick at the skin, it can cause acute inflammation and seriously damage the skin’s tissue. Remind yourself that “popping” that pimple can extend the healing time and may cause a permanent scar. Allow the blemish to heal on its own.
  4. Know if you are prone to scarring. The tendency to scar varies from person to person. If you are highly prone to scarring, you should see your doctor right away to discuss treatment options. He or she can help you with a treatment plan to help minimize the chances of scarring.
  5. See your doctor if you experience large, deep breakouts, or cysts. Deep nodules or cysts often leave deep, permanent scars as the infection destroys skin tissue. A doctor must treat acne of this severity. Quick, effective treatment can help lessen the chance of developing deep scars.
